Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of massage?

Massage is touch therapy. The simple physical touch affects all systems of the body which in turn affects our emotional health. It helps release chronic muscular tension, reduces pain and swelling; improves circulation of blood and movement of lymph fluids. It increases joint flexibility and range of motion. Massage reduces mental and physical fatigue and stress. It promotes easier and deeper breathing. It improves posture, increases blood pressure and reduces scar tissue and micro-adhesion. Internationally, the stress is resolved by massage and listening touch – click here for Balance and Calm.

Is Earthrose women only?

Yes, Earthrose is woman only. Our therapist and clients are all female.

Men may wait outside in the waiting area, with prior agreement.

What should I wear for my appointment?

To ensure your comfort please for on-site stool and Indian head massage, please wear casual loose fitting clothing and preferably flat shoes.

In most massage treatments on the couch you will need to undress to underpants and removing your bra is optional- if it makes you comfortable.

Will I be covered during my massage?

Yes. You will be fully draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. Only the area being massage will be exposed. I will leave the room when you undress and a large towel or two medium towels will be provided for you to wrap yourself after undressing. I will be outside the treatment room and will come in once you say you are ready. Once on the couch the large towel can be used to cover the upper body and a second towel is used to cover lower body. The towel modesty keeps you warm and ensures that you do not feel exposed. At the end of treatment I help you off couch if requested with towels draped on. I will then leave the room for you to get changed again.

What is your cancellation policy?

We have a 48 hr cancellation policy.

Otherwise a £25 cancellation fee needs to be paid.

What if I am late for my appointment?

We have the right to cancel a treatment if you are more than 20 minutes late. If you are late, your session will be shortened accordingly.

Can I have a massage if I’m pregnant?

You can have a stand-alone, side-lying Pregnancy Massage treatment in your first, second and third trimester, as well as 6 weeks post birth.

If you have any medical complications you will need medical consent.

Are you fully insured?

Yes, I am fully insured with Balens Insurance and I have a membership with Federation of Holistic Therapists.

Do you offer discounts?

To treat pain effectively and to increase range of motion, I encourage you to book a course of six sessions which is called a “block booking”. I offer a 10% discount on such blocks. I do not offer discounts for people in receipt of benefits for massage but I do give concession for coaching programs.

What are your post-treatment after care recommendations?

After treatment many reactions can be experienced. Most clients feel a sense of deep relaxation following treatment. Please also be aware that there are a number of natural reactions which can occur.  This is a positive result of the treatment. Massage makes the body systems function more efficiently, speeding up waste removal and the elimination of toxins.

These after effects may include

1. Frequent urination
2. Headaches
3. Thirst
4. Sleepiness.

These also include; tenderness, soreness, heat or redness around the area treated. This is quite normal and is part of the healing process within the tissue. They usually last between 24 to 72 hours.
